This Privacy Policy explains how I, Eric Zwanenburg, handle personal data in connection with ericzwanenburg.com. I'm based in Querétaro, Querétaro, Mexico, and work through Castelein AV, First Impact Live, and an independent practice for automation and web development. This policy covers this website only — Castelein AV and First Impact Live maintain their own sites and policies for their own online presence.

Questions about anything in this policy: eric@ericzwanenburg.com.

What personal data this site collects

This website is intentionally simple: it doesn't run a database, a CRM, or any server-side storage of visitor data. Two features collect personal data directly from you, and only when you choose to use them:

  • The contact form asks for your name, email address, company (optional), the type of work you're interested in, and your message.
  • The WhatsApp widget asks for your name, phone number, email address, the type of work you're interested in, and your message.

Neither form sends data to a server I operate. The contact form opens your own email client with a pre-filled message addressed to eric@ericzwanenburg.com; the WhatsApp widget opens WhatsApp (web or app) with a pre-filled message addressed to my WhatsApp number. In both cases, you decide whether to actually send it, and the message goes directly to my personal inbox or WhatsApp account — not to a database this website stores or that I can access independently of that email or chat.

Automatically collected data

Like any website, the hosting infrastructure that serves these pages keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) for security and reliability. This site does not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, advertising networks, or any other analytics or tracking service, and it does not set tracking cookies.

This site loads typefaces from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). Loading a font from Google's servers means your browser makes a direct request to Google, which involves sharing your IP address with Google as part of that request. Google's own privacy policy governs how it handles that request.

Cookies

This site does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. The only thing stored in your browser is a small entry in local storage that remembers you've seen the cookie notice, so it doesn't reappear on every page. That entry never leaves your browser and isn't used to track you.

Why I process this data, and its legal basis

I use the information you submit only to respond to your enquiry and, if we move forward, to deliver the production, automation or web development work you asked about.

  • Under the EU/UK GDPR, the legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) when you submit a form, and, where applicable, the steps necessary to enter into a contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b)) once a conversation moves toward an engagement.
  • Under Mexico's Ley Federal de Protección de Datos Personales en Posesión de los Particulares (LFPDPPP), the legal basis is your consent, given when you voluntarily submit your information through the contact form or WhatsApp widget.

How long data is kept

Because this website doesn't store submissions itself, retention is governed by my own email and WhatsApp account practices, not by this site. I keep business correspondence for as long as it's reasonably useful for the relationship (or as required by Mexican tax and accounting law for anything tied to an actual engagement), and delete it when it's no longer needed.

Who else sees this data

I don't sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing. The only "third parties" involved are the ones you're implicitly choosing when you use a form: your own email provider (contact form) or WhatsApp/Meta (WhatsApp widget), each governed by their own privacy terms.

International data transfers

If you're visiting from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or elsewhere outside Mexico, any information you choose to send me through the contact form or WhatsApp widget is transmitted directly from your own email or WhatsApp client to Mexico, where I'm based. I take reasonable, appropriate measures to protect any data I do receive, consistent with both GDPR and Mexican data protection standards, regardless of where it originates.

Your rights

If you're in the EU/EEA or UK (GDPR): you have the right to access the personal data I hold about you, correct it if it's inaccurate, request its erasure, restrict or object to processing, and receive a copy in a portable format. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

If you're in Mexico (LFPDPPP): you have ARCO rights — Acceso (access what I hold), Rectificación (correct it), Cancelación (request deletion), and Oposición (object to a specific use). You may also revoke your consent at any time. Mexico's data protection regulator is INAI (Instituto Nacional de Transparencia, Acceso a la Información y Protección de Datos Personales).

Everyone else: email eric@ericzwanenburg.com and I'll handle your request the same way — there's no reason to treat one region's privacy expectations as a lesser standard than another's.

Children's privacy

This site isn't directed at children, and I don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.

Security

Because form submissions never touch a server I operate, the biggest risk they'd otherwise carry — a database breach — doesn't apply. I still take reasonable care with the correspondence I do receive, the same way I would with any client communication.

Changes to this policy

I'll update this page if what the site actually does changes — for example, if I ever add analytics or a booking tool that sets cookies. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision, and any material change affecting cookies will also update the cookie notice.
